B.Good (Food with Roots)

August 9, 2017

A week ago today, I was a guest for a farm-to-table experience to launch B.Good's new location at Yonge/Eglington, Toronto. It was an honour to attend, as their mission is close and dear to my belief "to bring a farm-to-table mandate to urbanity" with wholesome food sourced locally! This story begins two best friends, Anthony and Jon, who grew up eating in their uncle Faris' kitchen, where he served up the best homemade food.

Fifteen years later, they decided to start a business and serve food the way he did, delicious, homemade, wholesome and of course with much love. The kind of food that has roots, roots that respect and connect the community of people who grow, prepare and eat the food they serve.

At B.Good, they celebrate local farmers and feature them in their restaurants. They work with local farmers that support humane,  natural and responsible growing methods. These are farmers nearby, to support our community and is better for our environment. This will give you a piece of mind knowing your food is real and know exactly where it is coming from.

Where does their real food come from? Their seasonal produce comes from Barrie Hill Farms located in Barrie, just 45 minutes North of the city, where Adrien and Evelyn Gervais bought the farm in 1968 and is now owned and operated by their son Morris.

Lets thank the family owned farmers over Gwillimdale Farms in Bradford, Ontario, for supplying them with the potatoes for those delicious crispy sweet potato & russet potato French fries.

I don't know about you but I am a big Cheese lover and The Cheese Farmers over at Bright Cheese & Butter in Bright, Ontario who have been making local quality cheese since 1874. They deliver local cheese to b.good for those who love a good quality cheese on their burger or tossed in their fresh salads. Their breads are so fresh and come from Tre Mari Bakery who are located in Toronto, who have been baking quality fresh bread for 50 years. Whoever loves a turkey burger, B.good's is the one to try. Natural and hand-packed by the farmers at Hayter's Farm in Dashwood, Ontario. A family-owned turkey farm, where three generations of the Hayter family have devoted their passion for premium quality. I encourage you to click the links on these local farms that B.Good supports and trusts for their quality products to get to know their family stories and the passion they put into to bring us quality, fresh and delicious food locally in Ontario just as B.Good Food with Roots brings us to the urban community.

Our evening was filled with delicious fresh salads, featuring Watermelon & Feta, Local Apple and Bacon, Farmstand Tomato-Basil. Their Burgers from vegetarian, natural beef burgers or turkey burgers, served with crispy sweet potato or russet fries.

Not only does B.Good have many refreshing cool drinks and smoothies but it was such a wonderful surprise to see that Be.Good takes extra special care of their guests,  by quenching us with their homemade lemonades made with infused basil and even a beet and ginger one to soothe our souls.
