How excited was I when Aimee from Brand and Buzzing had reached out to me to collaborate and host a Bonne Maman Jam inspired Holiday Dinner. Bonne Maman has created special preserves following traditional cherished recipes. These delicious jams are produced in France using all natural ingredients with no artificial colours, no additives or preservatives. Bonne Maman” means grandmother in French, it embodies the tenderness and generosity of their grandmother and brings alive the sweet emotion of long forgotten childhood memories. French grandmother used to prepare homemade jam for all the family and packed it in a traditional facetted jars with a hand written sticker for the date and flavour. Being a farm-to-table advocate, I use quality ingredients when developing recipes and Bonne Maman is truly a farm to jar favourite.
Preparations got underway, a guest list made up of 7 beautiful talented women and Bonne Maman holiday table decorations coming together. An inspired Holiday menu incorporating four of their delicious jam flavours, Cherry, Wild Blueberry, Orange Marmalade and Caramel being tested in The Spicy Olive kitchen.
Menu's are set, final touches are complete and celebrations are ready to begin. I have taken these quality jams and have created an elegant four course Holiday Farm-to-table dinner for my guests.
I love serving cheese boards for the holidays as it brings everyone around the table, with a variety of delicious flavours from local cheeses, spiced nuts and dried fruits. This recipe features Bonne Maman's Cherry Jam, where I have created a simple Cherry Jam Port & Thyme Preserve that can be made ahead and is the perfect addition to your holiday cheese board. Paired with an assortment of local cheeses from Cheese Boutique, spiced nuts, dried fruits, olives and flavoured crackers, which made an elegant addition to our holiday gathering!
This winter greens salad speaks to all the holiday flavours of the season and it is one of my favourites to serve during the holidays. Using fresh ingredients from local organic farmers and quality preserves to make the perfect vinaigrette to bring the flavours together is very important to me. This recipe features Bonne Maman's Wild Blueberry Jam, where I have created a sweet and tangy Blueberry Balsamic Vinaigrette to complement the local winter greens. Paired with a 2014 Reisling, from one of our favourite local Niagara Wineries Two Sisters Vineyards, it made a beautiful start to our holiday dinner.
Holiday gatherings are a perfect time to serve a delicious and flavourful Turkey Roulade. Stuffed with pancetta bacon, dried fruit, pistachio, bread crumbs and topped with a slightly sweet Orange Marmalade sauce for a burst of seasonal flavour. The inspiration for this recipe was Bonne Maman's Orange Marmalade, where I have created a delicious Orange & Mandarin Citrus Sauce to dress our stuffed Ontario turkey breast. Paired with a Two Sisters Vineyards 2012 Merlot, it was a wonderful holiday main.
A sweet ending to a holiday meal is always a must. I enjoy serving ice cream as you can create so many flavours and can be made ahead to alleviate some of the stress during entertaining. This Vanilla Bean and Ricotta Ice Cream is a simple recipe as it is non-churn and there is no need for an ice cream machine. A sauce using quality caramel spread and holiday flavours topped with a Cherry Jam Macron makes it a dessert sensation. This recipe features Bonne Maman's Caramel Spread Dulce de Leche, where I have created a festive caramel sauce simmered with sweet wine and raisins and topped with a special Cherry Jam Macron made by my talented friend Tara @Choperella. Tara incorporated Bonne Maman Cherry Jam in the centre of the macron to create the perfect French Cherry on top of our holiday ice cream treat. Paired with Two Sisters Vineyards 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Ice Wine, it made the most sweetest and decadent ending to our holiday dinner.
It was an honour to host such a special event with so many wonderful and inspiring women. The evening could not have been more spectacular. Bonne Maman Jams paired with Two Sisters Vineyard Wines inspired a beautiful Holiday evening and brought all of us together for delicious food, Holiday cheer and of course lots of laughs. If you have not tried these delectable French Jams and the exquisite wines of Two Sisters Vineyards, its a must!! I want to say a special thank to Aimee from Brand and Buzzing for giving me this opportunity and to our Photographer Jeff Chang for capturing all the special and delicious moments of the evening!
