Dark Chocolate Avocado Spicy Salted Truffles

It’s March and it’s looking a lot like Christmas here in our city and The Spicy Olive is kicking up the heat. Today, I had some pretty awesome taste testers who gave their thumbs up for these Dark Chocolate Avocado Truffles I shared. What gave them the spicy kick, a shot of ENTUBE’s Spicy Salted Umeboshi Plum Paste. It’s a unique modern Japanese flavour with Ume Japanese Plum combined with cayenne pepper. I love it, and can’t wait for you to try this recipe.


2 small avocado, ripe

¼ cup cocoa powder

8oz Lindt Dark Chocolate, 70% + extra for drizzle

1 tsp. ENTUBE Spicy Salted Umebeshi Plum Paste

1/3 cup sliced almonds, toasted



Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

In a large bowl, mash avocado until, very smooth and creamy.

Add in the cocoa powder and mix until well combined.

In a double boiler over medium-low heat, add chocolate and melt until complete smooth.

Add the melted chocolate and plum paste into the bowl of the avocado mixture. Stir well until smooth and thickened.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 mins.

Place almonds in a small bowl. Melt extra chocolate.

Using a tablespoon, scoop the mixture and roll around in your hands to create even balls.

Add each ball to prepared baking sheet, drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle with almonds.

Keep in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
